Tuesday, August 11 at 5:00 PM, The Wizard of Oz at Sphere is as much about the building as the film — Sphere’s interior display curves up, over, and around you so the image exists in all directions at once.
The 1939 source material was chosen partly because its vivid palette and celebrated settings translate powerfully into that format. Dorothy’s transition from Kansas gray to Oz Technicolor wraps around the Las Vegas audience at 16K resolution on a screen spanning 160,000 square feet. Live wind, fog, and haptic seat effects arrive on cue throughout. Sphere built exactly the right room for this film to finally live in.
