Monday, December 21 — winter solstice — at 5:00 PM inside Sphere at The Venetian Resort. The shortest day of the year is an oddly fitting time to walk into the most immersive entertainment venue in Las Vegas and let The Wizard of Oz at Sphere take over your senses for 75 minutes.
The production pairs Google AI-enhanced 16K visuals on Sphere’s wraparound screen with a freshly re-recorded orchestral score through 167,000 programmable speakers. Every scene gets a physical layer: haptic seats, atmospheric fog, high-velocity wind, fire bursts, and scent. Darkness outside, full color inside — it works on the solstice.
