Free presentation on Saturday, October 24th, 2026 will offer insights into public art opportunities, art portfolios, public art applications, and mural creation.
Painter and muralist Lee Lanier will present
The Ins and Outs of Public Art on Saturday, October 24th, at 1 p.m. at Centennial Hills Park, 6851 N. Buffalo Drive, Las Vegas. The 45-minute presentation will take place at the site of Lanier’s latest public artwork, a 20-by-12-foot mosaic mural commissioned by the City of Las Vegas.
Lanier will share practical insights into the public art process, including how to build a public art portfolio and curriculum vitae (CV), find and apply for public art opportunities, and plan and execute painted and mosaic murals. The presentation will conclude with time for questions, giving attendees an opportunity to ask Lanier about pursuing a public art career.
With dozens of murals painted and installed in Southern Nevada and other states, Lanier brings extensive hands-on experience to the presentation. In addition to his public art projects, he is an accomplished fine art painter whose large-scale narrative paintings have been exhibited across the country.
The presentation is open to everyone, with local artists, art students, and others interested in learning more about public art encouraged to attend. Whether exploring public art for the first time or looking to expand an existing artistic practice, attendees will have the opportunity to learn from Lanier’s experience and ask questions about the field.
