Lunchtime Concert Series: Mariachi Alas Doradas de Keller

Take your lunch break outdoors at Las Vegas Civic Center outdoor plaza and enjoy the award-winning Mariachi Alas Doradas de Keller of Keller Middle School. Grab a bite from one of our featured food trucks and relax at a table or bring your own blanket for a picnic. It’s an easy, mid-day escape with live music and fresh flavors.

Since 2021, the award-winning Mariachi Alas Doradas of Keller Middle School has proudly served the Las Vegas community through performances, educational outreach and cultural collaborations. Under the direction of Miriam Vázquez and Emily Vargas, the first female mariachi director duo in the Clark County School District, the ensemble is committed to preserving and sharing the rich tradition of mariachi while bringing together young musicians from diverse backgrounds.

Mariachi Alas Doradas has earned recognition at the local, state and national levels, including first place at the 2024 Encuentro del Mariachi at University of California Berkeley, second place at the 2026 Mariachi Extravaganza National Competition, and first place at the 2026 University of San Diego National Mariachi Competition. The ensemble also earned a unanimous superior-plus rating at the 2026 Clark County School District Advanced Mariachi Festival.

Their accomplishments and community impact have been recognized by Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo, the city of Las Vegas, the Clark County Commission, U.S. Senators Catherine Cortez Masto and Jacky Rosen, and Congresswoman Dina Titus. In April 2026, Clark County officially proclaimed April 7 as “Keller Middle School Mariachi Alas Doradas Day.”

More than a competitive ensemble, Mariachi Alas Doradas proudly serves as a musical and cultural ambassador for Nevada, inspiring young musicians while celebrating culture, community and the enduring tradition of mariachi music.
