July 11 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm PDT

90 Years of Reflection with Photojournalist Clinton Wright 1
Explore Clinton Wright’s impact on Las Vegas history through conversation, photography, a film preview and a birthday celebration.

Between the 1960s and 1970s, Clinton Wright documented Black life in the Historic Westside through his photojournalistic work with the Las Vegas Voice newspaper, founded in 1963. Join us for an insightful conversation with Claytee White and Clinton Wright recognizing his enduring legacy, learn about his work and celebrate his 90th birthday with cake and refreshments.

Also, filmmaker Emmett Gates will premiere a short preview of his next documentary about the life and work of Clinton Wright.

This program is in conjunction with Rhythm and Resilience: Black Vegas, currently on display in the Civic Center Gallery until August 20. Many of Wright’s photographs can be viewed in the exhibition.
