Drawing from her experience as a first-generation Mexican American\, Garcia reflects on growing up as the helper\, caregiver\, protector\, and peacekeeper. Through mixed-media paintings rooted in personal and family experiences\, she moves through identity\, sacrifice\, ancestry\, grief\, motherhood\, healing\, and community. \nGarcia describes each painting as its own story and the exhibition as a complete book. At its center is the realization that healing is not a destination\, but a path toward belonging. By looking at what has been inherited and choosing what to carry forward\, Para las Hijas Mayores creates space to slow down\, reflect\, and recognize pieces of ourselves in the experiences of others. \nPara las Hijas Mayores is the first exhibition of SOLO SERIES FY27\, a Clark County Public Arts program providing four local emerging and under-recognized artists with the opportunity to present solo exhibitions at Pearson Community Center Gallery.
