SUMMARY:Mural Unveiling – A Desert Dreamscape by Eric Vozzola
DESCRIPTION:Nevada State University\nScorpion DenRogers Student Center – RSC\, First floorParking is free\nMaps\n\nJoin us for the Scorpion Den Open House as NSSA showcases the newly renovated space. This event includes the unveiling of a new mural\, “A Desert Dreamscape” by Eric Vozzola\, which was commissioned by NSSA with support from the Office for the Arts.\n\nEric Vozzola is a Las Vegas-based artist known for vibrant color palettes and imagery inspired by the desert landscape he calls home. His work blends fine art and design principles—balancing geometry\, abstraction\, and organic realism to create immersive\, uplifting visual experiences rooted in thoughtful storytelling and site-specific design.\n\nA commissioned muralist since 2014 and a full-time professional artist since 2019\, Vozzola developed his artistic approach alongside a graphic design career after earning his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design from the University of Nevada\, Las Vegas in 2011. His background in design\, illustration\, and art direction continues to shape his collaborative and adaptable approach to large-scale public artworks and boutique commissioned works\, alike. As a husband and father raising his family in his hometown of Las Vegas\, Vozzola draws continued inspiration from the desert environment\, community\, and sense of place that have shaped both his life and his work.\n\nEric’s fine art\, design\, and murals can be found throughout southern Nevada and across the country\, including Oregon\, Florida\, and Georgia. He has partnered with public agencies\, schools\, hospitals\, cultural institutions\, global brands\, businesses\, and private collectors — always guided by the belief that art and design should be meaningful\, accessible\, and deeply connected to its environment.

SUMMARY:Around the Table: Stories of Nevada Foodways
DESCRIPTION:Nevada Humanities presents Around the Table: Stories of Nevada Foodways\, an exhibition celebrating the diverse food traditions and stories of the people of the Silver State. Around the Table: Stories of Nevada Foodways will be on display at the Nevada Humanities Program Gallery in Las Vegas from June 4 to Aug. 26\, 2026. \nAround the Table: Stories of Nevada Foodways features stories about the food traditions of Nevadans as told through handmade\, descriptive\, illustrated recipe cards and zines. A zine is a small\, handmade\, self-published booklet or magazine that provides a hands-on\, do-it-yourself way to share stories\, artwork\, poetry\, and ideas. Around the Table: Stories of Nevada Foodways will display food-oriented zines and recipe cards created by everyday Nevadans from across the state that represent the diversity and meaning of Nevada’s family food traditions. \nAround the Table: Stories of Nevada Foodways is part of Nevada Humanities’ Around the Table initiative of free\, public humanities-based programming in commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Throughout 2026\, Nevada Humanities invites Nevadans to share and celebrate their diverse food traditions through a series of public events and creative reflections that explore Nevada foodways\, food traditions\, and expressive culture across the Silver State. Nevada Humanities will document Nevadans’ food stories and traditions in a new zine and recipe card collection housed in the Nevada Humanities archives. For more information on making zines or contributing to the collection\, visit Around the Table: Contribute Your Recipe Cards and Zines to learn more. \nAs part of Around the Table: Stories of Nevada Foodways\, Nevada Humanities is hosting a series of zine making workshops during May\, June\, and July 2026. Event information will be available soon at nevadahumanities.org/calendar and in our upcoming email newsletters. \nAround the Table: Stories of Nevada Foodways is supported by Nevada Humanities’ generous donors and is produced by Nevada Humanities as part of the national initiative By the People: Conversations Beyond 250\, which is a series of community-driven programs created by humanities councils in collaboration with local partners. By the People was developed by the Federation of State Humanities Councils and the Smithsonian Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage. \nThe Nevada Humanities Program Gallery is located at 1017 S. 1st Street\, #190\, Las Vegas\, and is open for viewing Monday – Friday\, 1-5 p.m.\, and on the first Friday of the month until 10 p.m. for First Friday events. \nFor more information\, contact Bobbie Ann Howell via email at bahowell@nevadahumanities.org or by phone at 702-800-4670.
