DESCRIPTION:Join Hannah Dierdorff for “Between Elsewhere & Here: An Ecstatic Approach to Ecopoetics”\n\n\nWhat is the role of poetry in an environmental crisis? Can a poetics of ecstasy\, through decentering the self\, move us toward the care and action our current moment requires? \nIn this educational and generative session\, we’ll look at several poems that reimagine the space between ecstasy\, environmentalism\, and ethics and discuss the limits and possibilities of language within each. Poets studied may include Mary Oliver\, Jake Skeets\, Brenda Hillman\, CA Conrad\, MaKshya Tolbert\, and Daniela Naomi Molnar. \nAfter studying how ecopoets resist the logic of violence\, you’ll respond with your own writing. Together\, we’ll explore how responsibility to each other can be a kind of ecstasy that removes us from our illusions of control and moral purity\, creating space for desire and grief to exist alongside. \nAll levels welcome.

NO FIREWORKS\, SPARKLERS\, FIRECRACKERS\, POP ITS\, GLASS BOTTLES\, OR OUTSIDE ALCOHOL ALLOWED. THANK YOU \n\n\n\nFeatured Artist: July’s Featured artist is LaRon Emcee \n\n\n\nSee live painting with local artists throughout the event curated by ISI Group & Recycled Propaganda \n\n\n\nVisit our residency art gallery inside Art Square Suite 170 resident artists Nancy Good and Andrea Knox \n\n\n\nSpecial Note Preview Thursday July 3rd Andrea Knox Art Exhibit in the resident artist space inside Arts Square \n\n\n\nMusic: Visit local artists on the Church of Bass Stage and visit DJ Eric Roulette. All entertainment starts at 5pm featuring local talent till 11pm. \n\n\n\nSupport our key sponsors: Las Vegas Raiders\, City of Las Vegas\, Jardin\, \, Eric Roy Law Firm\, Verizon\, Don Julio\, The English Hotel\, KTNV 13 \, and Park West Gallery. \n\n\n\nWe are ecstatic to host local culture and community and always consider all proper health and safety protocols each month. \n\n\n\nParking \n\n\n\nHeaded to First Friday? Don’t waste time driving around downtown Las Vegas trying to find a spot. Take advantage of one of our offerings. \n\n\n\nPark & Ride \n\n\n\nPark at the city of Las Vegas parking garage\, 500 S. Main St.\, and take the FREE shuttle to and from First Friday. The shuttle runs from 3 p.m. to midnight. Additional parking at 902 Casino Center and 1025 South First Street\, Arts Square parking lot. Additional parking at 1000 Commerce with a short walk into the event. \n\n\n\nReservable Parking Spots \n\n\n\nWe offer parking throughout downtown that you can reserve in advance. Reserve a spot.  \n\n\n\nWherever you park\, please make sure the spot is clearly signed for public or event parking; never park anywhere that is not.
